Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice to begin August 2012. The successful candidate will teach courses to include: introduction to criminal justice, criminology, corrections, and policing.  There are also opportunities for teaching in the successful candidate’s specialty area via existing upper-level undergraduate and graduate-level electives or by course development in those areas where courses do not already exist.  Further, all criminal justice faculty members are expected to teach in both the online and residential undergraduate program in criminal justice (B.S.) as well as the graduate program in criminal justice (MACJ).  Applicants must provide evidence of or the potential for an active research agenda.  A Ph.D. in criminal justice or related social science discipline is required.  Highly qualified ABDs will be considered. Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs also invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer of Criminal Justice effective August 2012. Qualified candidates should have a doctorate in criminology, criminal justice or a related field and evidence of quality teaching at the university level. Highly qualified ABDs may be considered.  The JD is not a substitute for the Ph.D.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach policing and ethics courses such as Policing in America, Police Administration, and Ethics in Criminal Justice in both residence and online through Penn State’s World Campus. The ability to teach a Senior Seminar course devoted to race, ethnicity, and crime is also desirable but not required. There is also the potential for course development in the successful candidate’s area of interest and/or expertise.  Those candidates with a record of scholarly activity will be considered for teaching courses at the graduate level.  The candidate selected is expected to be an active member of the faculty and contribute to program governance and student advising.  For this position, please reference box #: ACJSC – 35627.
