scheduled for April 1-2, 2011and will be hosted by Neumann University in Aston PA.
Conference Theme
This year’s conference will focuse on a pilot reentry program in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for people who are released from prison. This program is designed to give those on probation a better chance at working their way back into society, in addition to aiding probation officers with the supervision of the defendants who are allowed entry to the program.
The program is comprised of bi-weekly meetings between the defendants in the program and a judge at the district level. These meetings would assess how the defendants are doing, their accomplishments and failures and how well they are complying with the conditions of their supervised release.
Guest Speaker
The Guest Speaker for this year’s conference will be Maureen Barden.
Maureen's was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from October, 1988 to February, 2006, when she became the Office's first prisoner reentry coordinator. In that
capacity, she has been a member of the District's reentry court team since its inception, seeking out resources and opportunities for court participants, and has supervised the reentry portion of the
Department of Justice's Route 222 Anti-Gang Initiative. She is a graduate of Columbia University and New York University Law School.

Call for Papers
The organization is issuing a call for academic papers on the subject of reentry into society after a prison sentence. Additional papers can also be submitted on topics related to this theme such as Juvenile Justice,Corrections and Restortative Justice.Other papers reflecting topical issues will also be considered.
Call for Committees
The organization is issuing a call for committees to review and select the academic papers that are submitted for reading at the conference.
Other committees need to be formalized for the purpose of nominations/elections, student scholarship awards.etc.
